Frequently Asked Questions
What is the petrol price in Pakistan today?
Petrol (Super) is Rs. 395.37 per litre in Pakistan as of 13 October 2026, the official PSO pump rate effective from 13 October 2026. That is down Rs. 2.93 from Rs. 398.30. High Speed Diesel is Rs. 396.85 per litre.
When does the government revise petrol prices in Pakistan?
Petrol and diesel prices are notified by the Finance Division, with OGRA working the rate off international oil prices and the exchange rate. Revisions were historically twice a month, on the 1st and the 16th, but through 2026 the government moved to reviewing prices far more often as global markets turned volatile, which is why this page checks the official rate every 30 minutes instead of on a fixed schedule.
Is the petrol price the same in Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad?
Yes. Petrol and High Speed Diesel are notified as a single national rate, so the price in Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Multan, Peshawar, Quetta, Hyderabad, Gujranwala, Sialkot and every other city is the same, Rs. 395.37 a litre as of 13 October 2026. An individual pump cannot set its own price. The one fuel that does change from city to city is high octane, which is notified per city and is dearest in the remote north.
What will the new petrol price be?
Nobody outside the Finance Division knows until it is notified. OGRA works the rate off international oil prices and the exchange rate, and the government announces the new figure shortly before it takes effect; the rate on this page took effect on 13 October 2026. This page deliberately shows only the official PSO rate that is in force, never a forecast or a figure from a news report, and it re-reads PSO every 30 minutes so it changes within half an hour of the new rate being published.
Who decides the petrol price in Pakistan?
The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) calculates the price based on global oil rates, and the Finance Division notifies the final price. It is not set by individual petrol pumps or companies.
How much does petrol cost per km in Pakistan?
At Rs. 395.37 a litre, a car doing 13 km per litre spends about Rs. 30.4 per km on petrol, and a 70cc bike doing 50 km per litre about Rs. 7.9 per km. The fuel cost calculator works it out for your own vehicle and trip.
Does petrol price affect my Shareide ride fare?
Fuel cost is one of the factors Shareide reviews when setting ride fares, alongside distance, time, and vehicle type, so pricing stays realistic for both riders and drivers.
How often is this page updated?
It reads the official PSO rate every 30 minutes, day and night, with extra checks just after midnight when new rates usually take effect, and updates the moment the price changes.
